Here, young people learned how to get more safety and trust at the workplace through effective social dialogue.
What is an effective social dialogue?
We dialogue every day. However, at this course young people learned to build an effective social dialogue, which is an important tool in the social partnership and in conducting collective negotiations, processes in which young trade union members are directly involved.
What should a union member know?
The journey into the world of union life starts from the concept of a decent work, socio-economic rights, the concept of union and continue with the collective contract, collective agreements and other topics discussed within the training course. The participants also understood the role of the union and the importance of communication and good collaboration among its members.
In the XXI century a young union member must know all the aspects of the union activities and possess developed skills. For this reason, throughout the duration of the training, young people have been involved in various practical exercises, debates, role-play and other activities. More than that, the participants learned what audit concerning the current situation on socio-economic rights means; to provide consultancy and practical advice to other union members regarding the legal framework for social dialogue at various levels; to negotiate rights and legitimate interests additionally to those provided by labor legislation for young people etc.
Mariana is a teacher of geography and union member. The training helped her to understand better how to overcome conflict situations at the workplace and how to apply this knowledge in order to help other young people in similar situations.
Mariana Timofti: "This training helped me to see the deficiencies of the labor code and thus to be more careful when the terms of collective or individual employment contracts are negociated. And for socio-economic rights of young people to be truly protected, we need social dialogue, which connects several institutions and creates new effective partnerships. I will try to get more involved in all activities of the Youth Union organisation, because I saw how important it can be for better implementation of all legal norms related to decent work."
Natalia Andrieș, teacher of Romanian/French languages: "During this course I learned a lot about the labour code and its aspects, which are the problems that can occur when you are not well informed about your socio-economic rights. I am able to apply the gained knowledge both for myself as well as for my colleagues and friends when they are facing problems at work."
The courses were conducted in the period of May 13 to 29 within the project "Decent work for YOUth – improving the social-economic situation of the young people in Moldova by empowering the youth and the civil society", implemented by the Foundation CNV Internationaal, the Association for Children and Youth "Faclia" and the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova.
