Nowadays, career guidance became more than helpful. Given that young people face a strong competition, complicated evaluation systems, a changing society and uncertainties related to their professional future, they choose their professions according to the specializations in vogue, the wishes of their parents and thus, the unemployment rate among them remains higher that the one for other population categories.
Recently, 400 young people from Ungheni, Falesti, Calarasi and Căuşeni attended the training on career guidance in order to discover their own skills, abilities and values, to learn to develop their self-confidence, communicate better and establish short and long term objectives.
Ana, future graduate of XII form, Ungheni: "This training course helped me to know myself better, to see clearly the path I will follow regarding studies and career. I understand that I have a lot to learn and already know which are the things that I have to work more for."
During these trainings, young people, guided by professional trainers, explored the world of professions and educational pathways, as well as the expectations the employers have from them as future employees. Young people have shown an increased interest in issues regarding the balance between professional and personal life, time for work and for leisure.
Natalia Munteanu, trainer, Falesti: "I tried to help young people and orient them in terms of their professional future, so that they feel free to choose a profession according to their capacities and knowledge."
During the training course, participants discussed with many successful people from their home districts, people who shared the secret of a well chosen job. At the end of the 3 days of training, young people stated that they are now prepared to make informed and rational decisions with regard to their professional future.
The training course "Career guidance for youth" is part of the project "Decent work for YOUth – improving the social-economic situation of the young people in Moldova by empowering the youth and the civil society", implemented by the Foundation CNV Internationaal, the Association for Children and Youth "Făclia" and the National Confederation of Trade Unions, a project funded by the European Union.
